Pentecost

Pentecost is a time to plug into the Divine Fire and renew our passion for life.

Pentecost is a time to plug into the Divine Fire and renew our passion for life. This is not limited to putting fire and passion into our faith life. God wants us to live fully in his divine way. We spend only a fraction of our lives in church. We spend only a small percentage of daily time in prayer. What about the rest of our lives? The Holy Spirit wants access to it. God invites us into a thoughtful awareness of his presence in every aspect of our day. If we decide to take on the Spirit in our marriage, in raising our toddler, in cleaning the garage, we can count on a powerful transformation of our ordinary existence into a charged, accelerated version of God’s dream for us. We have not lived fully until we have chosen to live in the Spirit of God. We become partners with a divine energy that inspires, heals, enlivens the work that we do and every relationship.

How do we begin this Pentecost process? Reach your hand out to the third person of the Trinity with the words, “Come Holy Spirit.” Say them often and mean what you say. When your patience is running thin at work, when the baby keeps you up all night, when your spouse is short-tempered, call on that fire. It won’t fail you.
