Easter Sunday (April 24)

Reflection for Penitential Rite: God sent his Son to show us the way to the kingdom by his teachings and by the way he lived and died. Through Jesus’ resurrection from the dead, we are assured of eternal life. Let us embrace the gift of eternal life as we acknowledge our faults and ask for God’s forgiveness.

Liturgy of the Word:

1st Reading: In the first reading, Peter proclaims the gospel to a new audience. Salvation reaches the home of a Roman soldier.

2nd Reading: In the second reading, Paul tells us that our union with the risen Christ challenges us to see all happenings from God’s viewpoint.

Gospel: In the Gospel, the beloved disciple comes to faith when he sees Jesus’ empty tomb and all the signs of death removed.

Reflection on the Readings: The early disciples of Jesus saw him work signs and transform lives through his teachings and example. On this Easter, and every day of our lives, we can continue to recognize God’s presence in our world.

Reflection for Offertory: As we observe Easter, we share in the celebration of all Christians who have come before, gathering in the name of the risen Christ. As we worship together, let us open our hearts to the Lord who continues to live in our midst as food of eternal life.
