“Your word was my delight and the joy of my heart”
Jeremiah 15:16
An unforgetable evening at Duns Scotus Centre on 7 December 2011
Duns Scotus Bible Centre has a very uneventful evening on 7 December 2011. Pilgrims who have just returned from their recent pilgrimage invited Mr Hessler Lee and Mr Philip Kwong to share their experience.
Duns Scotus Bible Centre has a very uneventful evening on 7 December 2011. Pilgrims who have just returned from their recent pilgrimage invited Mr Hessler Lee and Mr Philip Kwong to share their experience.
Hessler is no stranger for those who come to the Centre and everybody knew that he was an Anglican then. He thanked us all welcoming him even when he was still an Anglican (he is confirmed on 15 October). He is now a brother in our Catholic family. He thanked God for leading him step by step to His love and to give him freedom when various options were available.
Hessler shares the following poem by Fr Pedro Arrupe, S.J.:
Nothing is more practical than finding God, than falling in Love in a quite absolute, final way.
What you are in love with, what seizes your imagination, will affect everything.
It will decide what will get you out of bed in the morning, what you do with your evenings, how you spend your weekends,
what you read, whom you know, what breaks your heart, and what amazes you with joy and gratitude.
Fall in Love, stay in love, and it will decide everything.
Mr Philip Kwong has prepared a very impressive PowerPoint. The slides started from the birth of Jesus Christ until His death on the Cross-for us, the sinners. The most thought provoking slide was, Philip took a picture about the boundary wall with a little tree in front. He said "when I saw this, I remember in the Bible there is a verse 'A new shoot will grow from its roots. On him will rest the spirit of Yahweh' (Is 11:2); and hope there will be real peace on the land that is separated by the walls"!
We love, not because of who we are, but because of who He is, as He is love.
