In the afternoon of 17 December, about 40 people gathered at the Centre for their Advent retreat to prepare for the coming of Christ.
The retreat was concentrated on the gospel of Luke. Christmas actually is a time of going back to the day before your baptism. When He first touched you! St Luke wants to tell us to treasure every moment in moment of our life, in our times of pain, anguish, loss, joy, success. Were we aware that Jesus was with us during these moments? When we realised that Jesus was always 'present', then its truly a Christmas present! With this in mind we should plan for our future.
The talks were given with sufficient time for deep reflection with music in the background. In addition to the talks, the participants were fully involved in the recitation of the Holy Rosary and the Angelus.
It was a spiritually stimulating afternoon of 3 hours where the Duns Scotus Bible Centre offered an oasis of peace to allow participants to put away their daily pressures temporarily and to reflect deeply on their commitments as Christians particularly during this Advent season.
Many participants were regular comers to the Bible classes organized by the Duns Scotus Bible Centre. They looked forward to the Retreats as many have requested that more sessions for reflective reading and learning of the Word of God could be arranged.
