Beatification of Fr. Allegra Fr. Gabriele Allegra on 29 September 2012
Fr. Gabriele Allegra, a Franciscian Friar, will be held 10 am in the Cathedral of Acireale, on 29 September 2012. He was also known as the "St Jerome of China". He had devoted all his life in completing the translation of the Bible into Chinese and also he was the founder of the Studium Biblicum Franciscanum.
Fr. Gabriele Allegra, a Franciscian Friar, will be beatified at 10 am in the Cathedral of Acireale, on 29 September 2012. He was also known as the "St Jerome of China". He had devoted all his life in completing the translation of the Bible into Chinese and also he was the founder of the Studium Biblicum Franciscanum.
The Chinese version of the Bible is widely used amongst the laity. It is the fruit of his lifelong commitment to translate the sacred text where all the Chinese can appreciate them.
